I won’t spoil the asking price, but !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! . Right now the bid is at $15,580 and well below reserve, I’m sure.
Highlights:
B18C from an Integra Type-R (200hp, 1400lb)
Integra 5-Speed with LSD (FWD)
SPAX Adjustable coilovers
Wilwood “performance” brakes (about as small as they come, I’d say)
Honda gauges, electrics, key, etc.
Scroll down to the bottom of the ad to find the asking price. Yowza.
You’d think for $50,000 they would have gone all-out and put in the AWD from a CR-V. They sell kits for that, too. Still, gorgeous ride. I don’t think I’d ever VTEC swap mine, but if I did this is probably what I’d try to do.
Any guesses on the final sale price? I’m going to wager that it will be bid up to about $28k - but won’t hit the reserve price.

I really don’t trust those belts that close to the wheels.

Out of curiosity, what were you thinking it might be? The asking price ($49,999 OBO) is more than a 2016 GT350 (which is the $50k car that everyone seems to be going crazy for these days). That’s a lot of money.
I’m pretty hard into the classic Mini but if I was spending my own money I wouldn’t be dropping $50k on a swap, no matter how well done.

http://teknikensvarld.se/honda-cr-v-4wd… Wasn’t the CR-V AWD system utterly shit?

Indeed, no fender liners either.
That’s actually a good example of my biggest concern with any VTEC Mini - the risk of sacrificing drivability. I’ve never driven one, but everyone who I’ve met that has noted how much it scared them. That might be good for some people, but for me I’m not quite sure. I’d like something that’s a bit more controllable in addition to fast.
Either way, it might be okay simply because I doubt many people are using their Mini (stock or swapped) as a daily driver.

I wonder if there are any similar tests of the old RT-4WD system from the first-gen CR-V (1996-2001). That’s what this kit would be using.
e: it doesn’t look much better!

I was just thinking about these last night. Since my current plan is to replace my DD 02 SVT Focus with a BRZ, I had the thought a VTEC Mini might be good fun.
It’s good to know they are 1) crazy expensive and 2) terrifying to drive.
An old Mini might still be fun, but it sounds like adding another 150 HP over stock makes for a very scary drive.

You’re on the right track (and you should buy my BRZ), but the 200HP FWD VTEC Mini is definitely a lot less scary than a 170hp Hayabusa-powered Mini. Putting the engine in the back and driving the rear wheels with that short of a wheelbase is a recipe for disaster. You’re going to have to fight to keep yourself facing forward every time you hit a tiny bump. I can’t even imagine it.

What color is you BRZ? Is it manual?

I like this one:
Completely scratch-built, mid engined, carbon fiber body. Kimini is a beast.

It’s a 2014 Premium 6MT in white. Here’s a photo from this morning, dirt and bugs and all:
It’s not officially for sale, but it will be eventually. I was thinking about heading for the Focus RS, but the more I think about it the more I think I might be better suited with a Fiesta ST (... and about $20k in cash saved). I’m probably one of the most conservative drivers out of the “enthusiasts” I know, so a 330hp+ AWD car is more than I need on the street. I could build a killer Miata (or Exocet) for far less than that and have a great time on the track while worrying a whole lot less about breaking something.
A garage with a fun DD, a classic, and a track car sounds a lot more appealing than beating on my DD at the track. Even if the DD is the fastest of the three.

Where are you located? I’m in Dayton, Ohio; but for the right car and deal I’m okay with a road trip.
I’m not in the market right now, but I am hopeful it will be soon. I was thinking about WRB, but the BRZ does look amazing in white. I’m still on the fence about which color.
If you decide to pull the trigger, don’t wait on my timing. I honestly do not have any goal or set date. We’ve just bought a new house, and have rennovated and are going to be renting our old one, so I have to wait for things to settle a bit before I can think about a new car.

I'm near Chicago. There's no timeframe for replacement yet, it's just a seed that's been planted. Roughly targeting next spring if I get the Focus RS, or later if I'm looking at a Fiesta.
